Opera Poster for 'Banished'

This project is created in collaboration with IADT fourth year sudents for Design and Screen with RIAM. My brief was to create a visual identity for the opera, posters, booklets and online promotions. It is a compelling story of a women who survived against all her odds on a long, arduous and dangerous passage. Music and the script of the opera is carrying sadness and pain and to rediscover this mood I am using contrast of dark and bright colours also symbolizing the hope of the young women.

The Royal Irish Academy of Music is proud to present the Irish première of Stephen McNeff’s Banished, an adaptation of Steve Gooch’s play, Female Transport, to a libretto by Olivia Fuchs. Putting young women firmly centre-stage, this brave new work tells the compelling story of women who were transported to Australia in the last years of the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries and their survival.
